Reference title capitalization - First word only

Postby AnimusAstralis » 2015-10-23 20:34

I'm making quite a complex style for myself and stumbled upon an issue of capitalization and 'decapitalization' of words in the 'Title' field.

I've found a discussion - ... 85&t=10730
which contains link to a nice filter - ... eiben.aspx

So basically this filter makes

Doe, J. (2012): Living in cologne today. Köln.

look like

Doe, J. (2012): Living in Cologne Today. Köln.

And I need quite the opposite - all my references are capitalized (First Letter of Each Word), just in a way this filter would do it. But I need only first letter of each sentence to be capitalized, e.g.:

Title title title: Subtitle subtitle subtitle. Supplement supplement supplement.

Is there an easy way (more or less) to do this via filter?

Need to make it work for English and Russian titles. Obviously some exceptions are needed (the names of countries, cities etc.), but I suppose this can be done similarly to the specific section in the existing filter.

I hope somebody can help me, making filter from scratch by myself is unfortunately too hard for me.

P.S. I can read texts in German should the need arise.

Hello AnimusAstralis,

Thanks for your question! On the page you mentioned ( ... eiben.aspx), you'll see the link "Programmcode für Kleinbuchstaben, Version 1.6". This is the code you would use to make all the letters except the very first be written in lowercase.

You can create exceptions (i.e. words that should always appear in uppercase) by entering them from line 80 on. For example if you enter "United States of America" there, It will remain as "United States of America" and won't be automatically changed to "United states of america".

Please just let us know if you have any additional questions!

Oh my, I was really careless while reading that page - I thought those were just 2 different versions of the SAME filter. I don't get how I wasn't able to notice that!

Thanks, Jennifer!
