Reference Title Capitalization

Postby rkulhavy » 2015-04-02 12:15

Hello,

I love those "simple" functions that take care of consistent formatting of information, like the automatic sorting and reformatting of a list of keywords implemented in Citavi 5.

In the same vein, I would greatly appreciate an optional title (and subtitle) capitalization, automatic or at least on-demand, configurable via Options.

Currently, I use the external (Chicago Manual of Style) capitalization based on the JavaScript function http://ejohn.org/files/titleCaps.js available through http://titlecapitalization.com/. But it takes some extra typing, Ctrl-C Alt-Tab Ctrl-V Ctrl-A Ctrl-C Alt-Tab Ctrl-V, every time I want to capitalize a (sub)title.

I have enjoyed a similar function in Zotero (implemented as part of the title text box functionality) and would love having it in Citavi as well.

Best regards,
Ruda Kulhavy

Dear Ruda,

the capitalization issue is something that is definitely on our list for the future. However, it's not easy implementing such a function in a way that is easy to use and works well in most circumstances. So it'll take a while.

But: There is already today a filter for title components that will capitalize English titles in the citation style's output. You can find it on this (unfortunately German) FAQ page.

The comments in the source code are in English and a description of how to use such code can be found in the manual.

Kind regards
Sebastian

Dear Sebastian,

Understood. A filter might be the solution, thank you for the hint (I can read German).

Unfortunately, I cannot access the Citavi 5 filter, http://www.citavi.com/csecodes/431_Comp ... 5_V1.5.zip. Perhaps, it's too early to tweak

Best regards,

Dear Ruda,

we've updated the FAQ article. The versions there should now be working for Citavi 4 and Citavi 5.

Best regards
Sebastian
