Double-click option for opening PDF in external reader

The Preview feature is good and I understand functionality will improve significantly in Citavi 5.

However, many people will prefer to open a PDF in an external viewer to avoid resizing the various panes in Citavi to be able to see the Preview.

The problem is - there is no quick way to open a PDF in an external viewer. You have to select the reference then click the PDF reader icon in the preview (if the preview pane is visible) and then select open in reader. Neither is there a context option to open the PDF if you right-click on it in the Reference tab.

Why not have a setting in Options->General to open the (first) PDF attachment in any reference simply by double clicking the reference?

Dear gjsa,

Many thanks for your question! We've had requests for a more direct way to open PDF files in an external program for a while now and there are a few different ideas we have in our wish list for new features. I'll add your suggestion to our wish list so the developers see this again. Another solution that might be nice is to be able to open the PDF file in an external program by clicking the paperclip icon in the list of references.

Best regards,
Jennifer
