Importing authors

Postby bcoppens » 2017-03-21 17:01

System information: [ Citavi Version 5.4, Windows 10, English, Internet Explorer 10-11, MS Office 2016, Acrobat DC ]

Hi,

I'm importing references from Excel.
For the authors field, in the import definition, I set the sequence to "Last name, first name" (screenshot 1)
It works as expected, expect when the last name contains a "prefix": "von Albert, H.H."
In that case, Citavi sets the last name to "Albert" and not to "von Albert" (screenshot 2)
Is there a way to change that?

Thanks,
Benoit

Hello Benoit

In German-speaking areas, prefixes are attached to the person's first name: Albert, H. H. von (cf. manual).

Hi Peter,

Do you mean that Citavi automatically detects for each author if he is 'most likely' a German or French or ... author and applies different rule based on that detection?

Is there a way to force other rules at import time?

Thanks,
Benoit

Hello Benoit

Citavi doesn't look for language information. Instead it recognises "von" or "van" as prefixes and uses the rules described in our manual to decide if "von" or "van" belongs to the first or the last name:

There is no way to bypass these rules.

Kind regards,
Peter
