ePub & DRM issue Topic is solved

ePub & DRM issue

Postby AnimusAstralis » 2016-03-03 17:14

System information: [ Citavi Version 5.2, Windows 8.x, English, Firefox 43 or newer, MS Office 2016, Acrobat DC ]

Citavi, among other things, is a fine ePub reader. Yet some ePubs can't be previewed due to false DRM error:

All my ePubs are DRM-free of course, and I can't figure out why some ePubs are recognized as DRM-protected. I've tried to convert them via Calibre in many ways - ePub>ePub, ePub>Mobi>ePub, etc., yet they still can't be previewed in Citavi.

Is there any way to solve this issue?

P.S. I can share these ePubs, but don't want to do it right here though. :P

Hi, AnimusAstralis,

could you send us one of the EPUBs in question for testing purposes?

To transfer the files, please use our secure upload service. So that we can match the files to the issue, please put the address of this page in the message field.

Thank you!

Best regards,
Sebastian

Hi, AnimusAstralis,

thank you for the files. They do indeed have some kind of DRM information as they contain encryption information that refers to Adobe Digital Editions. However, only the (unencrypted) font files are mentioned.

Apparently, Citavi treats this information differently than Calibre or SumatraPDF. I've passed on the files to our developers so that they can check if the way Citavi checks whether a EPUB file has DRM could be modified.

Best regards
Sebastian

Thanks, I hope to find this feature in future releases - love working with ePubs in Citavi.
