EZProxy

Postby ethno » 2016-01-05 20:42

System information: [ Citavi Version 5.2, Windows 7, English, Firefox 36 or newer, MS Office 2016, Acrobat XI ]

Hi. I would like to set up the EZProxy login so that I can have access to full text to which my institution has access. Is see that I can do this via Tools > Options > RSS/Open URL (as per your note on the 5 Beta 2 here viewtopic.php?f=16&t=10669&p=36054&hilit=ezproxy&sid=791d95b1486e846b0f6c9077a3c10755#p36054). I've added the EXProxy address for my institution, but I get what looks like an Internet Explorer window opening that says "Navigation to the webpage was canceled."

I did once try to add the OCLC list of databases associated with my institution to the end of the EZProxy address i.e., :2048) and did get a login window at that time ... but that didn't appear to help me accomplish anything other than bring up that website in the window that I just logged into. I could then search for references, if I closed that open window (but kept open the Find Full Text window), but I would get the message "URL already exists" in the message for the search.

I could really use some help here. There was scant information available for setting up the EZProxy. I did see the information here (http://www.citavi.com/sub/manual5/en/in ... icles.html) is promising, but doesn't help me figure out what's going on or what I might need to do. I should think I could get this to work ... but to no avail.

Thanks!

Hi ethno,

Thanks for your question! Could you please send me the exact URL you entered under Tools > Options > RSS / OpenURL > EZproxy URL?

Thanks!

Best regards,

Hi ethno,

Thanks for the link! This didn't work for me either, even when I entered it in my browser. I Googled around a little and found this alternative URL:
http://ezproxy.marshall.edu:2048/login

That one seems to work from within Citavi (although I can't test the actual login, since I'm not affiliated with the university).

Best regards,
Jennifer

Hi, Jennifer.

Yes. That does bring up a login and I can login, but I get a testing page listing all the various databases available. I am going to have to see if they IT folks here can help. I queried them once before about this and they seemed clueless.

I appreciate your help.
