We are pleased to show you the second preview release of Citavi 4, and want to thank the users who gave us valuable feedback to the first preview.

Please note that Word documents created with Preview 1 cannot be edited with Preview 2.

Improvements Since Preview 1
  • New: Citavi Picker for Chrome
The Picker is now available for Google Chrome. It has the same features as the Pickers for Firefox and Internet Explorer: adding webpages as references, adding selections as quotations, ISBN and DOI detection, and the Picker's "Hunter" feature, which alerts you to references that can be imported with just a click.

The Picker for Chrome does not include the following features found in the Pickers for Firefox and Internet Explorer:
    • Adding the image of a complete webpage is not supported by Chrome. However, it is possible to add the image of the current window.
    • The Settings window is not available.
    • On Windows XP the Hunter only adds the bibliographic information of the first reference found.
  • Add-In for Word
    • In addition to Word 2010 and 2007, the Add-In now supports Word 2003.
    • The Convert menu is now available:
      • Convert Citavi 3 placeholders to Citavi fields
      • Convert EndNote fields to Citavi fields
      • Additional conversion features
    • Insert with options lets you override the default position (in-text or footnotes).
    • If a reference is selected and you type a number, the cursor will jump directly to the Page range box on the Insert with Options menu.
    • Knowledge items can be inserted in different ways:
      • Core statement
      • Knowledge item and citation
      • Citation only
    • New icons
    • Drag and drop support
    • The number of citations for a given reference are displayed
    • Better outline display
    • Better shortcut menus
    • Additional improvements
  • Bug fixes.

Important
This preview is an early version to show new features as they are being developed, still early enough in the process to consider feedback regarding look and feel, but potentially with significant bugs. It should not be used with important data. New features can introduce new bugs of their own, so please post if you find one.

This version is no longer available.
