Scrolling long items in the Preview Pane

Postby JJSlote » 2011-01-10 17:16

System information: [ Citavi Version 3.0.1, Windows XP, English, Firefox 3.x, MS Office 2007, - ]

Two anomalies in the preview pane, when viewing longer items.

- The mouse wheel scrolls the text as expected, but scrolling by keyboard does not appear to be possible. Arrow keys are perhaps reserved for advancing to the next item, but PageUp, PageDn, Home and End are customarily available for scrolling.
- An article-length item in a large type face can be cut off before the end, with no way to scroll further, even with the mouse wheel.

Thanks for taking a look.

Hi Jerome,

Could you give us a concrete example of when that happens? A screenshot would be great, if you can attach one.

Certainly. For the attached image, the lyrics of "99 Bottles of Beer" were pasted thrice, to a total of 1213 lines, 7584 words, 35709 chars, then enlarged to a font of Georgia 20. Notice the text in the preview pane is cut off before the end, with the vertical scroll bar at its lowest possible spot. This bottom point in the text varies with the width of the pane and the size of the font. Preview is juxtaposed with the Thought Editor, which shows the proper end point.

This is large for a real-world thought, of course; but users will bump into the problem as I have, when introducing previously collected writing for breakout into Citavi knowledge items.
